You may wonder why, bodies aching having completed The Herriot Way, we felt the need to walk another largely vertical eleven miles? Opening the curtains I did too…then again it was my stupid idea.
A Circular Week
Day Five – Happy Birthday!
We landed at The Kings Arms, Reeth, in a combined state of injured, infirm and borderline suicidal. The longest day by far and, if there were wavering hearts over the following day, the sight of the local bus parked across from us was provocative.
Day Four – Reeth – “Shoot Me!”
Although I had desperately fancied a well-earned siesta after the afternoon’s exertions, a crisis far away focused hearts and minds, well at least Leapy’s.
Day Three – Keld – The Only Way Is Up
Imagine my shock when my long-lost twin brother turned up in Hawes the favourite old shellsuit of mine that I knew he’d nicked thirty years ago?
Day Two – Hawes
Still stunned by fluffy towels and central heating to name a few, we’d made our way from our camp site to the local – The George & Dragon – where we were staying on our penultimate night of this circular trip.
