As a follow-up to my blog last week, The Yorkshire Post published the story (19/8), albeit with more holes than the pitches in question. Whether you like sport or not, just try to imagine the simple waste of money here.

In 2018 the English Cricket Board (ECB) announced it would be laying five non-turf cricket pitches (NTP) in urban areas of Bradford as part of its plainly stupid South Asian Strategy.

Finding tradespeople these days seems especially difficult. My neighbours and I were after a roofer as, unfortunately, birds were dropping down our chimneys all too frequently.
What followed was a bluebottle explosion if we missed the sad sound of the doomed trapped bird before The Yorkshire Post and a roll of masking tape were employed.
