“The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.”
Coco Chanel
If football is a “man’s game” as Graeme Souness asserted the other week only for it to be taken way out of context by the woke wailers, then so it seems is estate agency.
Perhaps next week the property may well be re-listed as a “Non-binary/Not-sure/Who Cares Residence”? Those local estate agents who read this from time to time I welcome your views.
Common Sense Fights Back?
A fascinating extract from Twitter this week from one Robert Clark who describes himself as Director Defence & Security Unit (DSU) and, amongst other things, once a soldier.
His comments relate to email leaks showing Air Vice Marshal Maria Byford ordering BAME & female applications above white males. Clark makes the following observations.
I cannot state this enough. Defence starts at home. What is the point of having a globally ambitious military when ran by woke agenda-driven leadership, desperate to disadvantage its most numerous demograph, rushing applications *of any background*, to chase the honours system.
The military is not a civilian environment. It is not advantageous to recruit from all parts of society. Middle-aged; disabled; overweight; under-height; pre-existing health issues; communist party membership – these are all grounds for refusal.
The oft-used term positive discrimination is the ultimate contradiction in terms; there is nothing positive about any form of discrimination. Mr Clark is bang on the money here.
Why?
Out on the rounds working for the dental tycoon as he polishes his putter back in the office, I am privy to the sights and sounds of various city centres such as Barnsley, Doncaster, Wakefield and York; the good, the bad and the downright ugly, in no particular order.
What perplexes me evermore is the number of young women sprouting giant daffy duck lips in some belief it makes them more alluring; this appears to be on trend at the moment.
But what does it tell you about their state of personal confidence? Frankly, voluntary personal mutilations should be banned until you have at least discovered the true value of money – and life – by paying a gas bill or two.
At least you can bin a bad shirt.
The Still Shy Lord Patel
As The Yorkshire Post’s Chris Waters continues his excellent analysis of the woeful situation at Yorkshire County Cricket Club, I am pleased Chris agrees with my assertion that Lord Patel should go – and quickly.
The curious Lord has been on my radar for a long time – see Why So Shy Lord Patel? – written over four years ago.
Recalling his awful bumbling appearance on Sky Sports during a test match interval in 2018, I shudder at the memory. It is a disgrace that the press be kept out of meetings like the forthcoming YCCC EGM. What is he afraid of?
How sad that one hundred and fifty years of proud existence comes to secret meetings and weak, pathetic so-called leadership.
Hotair Hussain
My MP was in the press this week. Following research revealing areas of his constituency that are hotspots for road traffic collisions, Bradford East MP Imran Hussain has called on Ministers, Bradford Council and West Yorkshire Police to take urgent, targeted action before any more lives are lost.
The local paper published a “heatmap” for these “accident blackpots” but it was so deliberately opaque as to serve no purpose at all.
But what is Mr Hussain expecting? Are they suddenly going to find a cure for stupidity? I fear not.
