“The person who doesn’t know where his next dollar is coming from usually doesn’t know where his last dollar went.”

The pandemic has spawned an endless raft of “experts”. From epidemiology to conspiracy theorists alleging it is all the work of Big Government, they all have a view.
I sought an explanation from my MP re local lockdowns. Where I live had not featured on the charts, despite being surrounded by areas with levels way above the national average. I was tempted to dream we had won independence from Muppet Hall.
My email was not making the case that Idle & Thackley are twin models of social distancing and hand-washing. Maybe we had been lucky to date; since then we have appeared on the “hit parade”.
I have been clear that wards in my constituency…should be lifted out of the Government’s local restrictions…the Secretary of State…has continued to ignore the evidence, experts and science, and keep these local restrictions in place…
Lifting restrictions at one end of the road but keeping them at the other, despite similar case numbers, makes no sense.
But consider the composition of Bradford East. It is made up of the following: Bradford Moor, Bolton & Undercliffe, Bowling & Barkerend, Eccleshill, Idle & Thackley plus Little Horton. These wards are spread far and wide across Bradford, hardly “at one end of the road” from the other.
Give a blind man a map and a pin in a darkened room and he would have come up with something similar.
He has also made great play of deprivation being a major factor in the spread of the disease. Take a look at the national figures and some of the highest areas of deprivation – see Tower Hamlets in London – tend to contradict this.
It is not about handouts, it is about hugging and hand washing.
The configuration of Bradford East also makes it highly unlikely we will ever have anything but a Labour MP. The demographic is just as conclusive as to the eventual choice.
I have a feeling my vote is utterly worthless.
The Return of the Golden Girls
Since gyms shut their doors those of us that rely on our communities have missed these places.
I cannot tell you how hard the staff at Kents have worked to keep us safe and also to give the place a facelift.
Monday morning will see local care homes open their doors as the flocks return to Pilates. The Golden Girls will be back doubtless with a dazzling array of new outlets, all the colours of the rainbow.
Six months of relying on personal discipline – a few stretches or another biscuit – will make for tough times on the floor mats. I am expecting some creaking but cannot wait to see the old dears again.
BBC – Time To Scrap The Licence Fee
I’ve argued as far back as 2012 that the sentiments expressed by Shipley MP Philip Davies – see here – become a reality. On a personal level I feel completely detached from the London-centric, politically correct baloney spouted by the BBC these days.
This is not to say that Sky is any better, nor cheaper, but I have a choice. Whereas, I have the likes of Carr, Keunssberg, Lineker and Norton inflicted on me.
The BBC is full of hypocrisy. They insist on blowing £100m on diversity; at the same time, they are reducing coverage from the regions. Diversity was surely never all about colour or gender.
Switch on the radio and your senses are bombarded by a succession of DJs for who the main criteria on the job application must have been “sound camp”. I don’t have a problem with people’s personal choices I just don’t want them ramming down my throat.
It has become a bloated corpse so now is the time to let it stand in the free market and test the real value of the so-called stars. The only way it should be allowed to survive is if it again became truly representative of the British people.
The only way it can do this is by shifting resources out of London on a scale never before.
